Nepal climbs 6 places up in FIFA World Rankings

Nepal has climbed by six places up in the latest FIFA world rankings of 2015. The latest ranking now places Nepal in 180th position. A total of 209 nations are presented in the rankings of world football governing body – FIFA.

While Nepal is ranked at 180th position with 55.4 points, the world cup winner of 2014 Germany tops the list with 1728.78 points. Nepali football team increased 6 places by adding 6.4 points from last year’s 186th position with 49 points. Here’s Nepal screenshot of the FIFA rankings.

Among south Asian countries, Maldives still ranks the highest with its 135th position followed by Afghanistan at 144th position. Both countries however dropped four places and two places respectively in their rankings.

Another significant progress is made by Bangladesh moving up by 8 places to hold 157th position. The lowest ranked South Asian country, Bhutan, is placed at 209th position in the rankings. Another highlight among south Asian countries includes Pakistan improving 17 places to stay together with India at 171. The latter has maintained its ranking from last year.

Iran, among the Asian countries holds the top position being placed at number 41. Along with Germany, Argentina, Colombia, Belgium, Netherlands, Brazil, Portugal, France, Uruguay, and Spain are among the top ten countries in the ranking.

FIFA rankings are certainly important for country like ours whose football team is just sprouting. And indeed with increase in the rankings, we can be hopeful for the progressive future of the nation’s team. Congratulations to the Team Nepal!
