Kamal Thapa speaks to BBC World News (Video)

Kamal Thapa has spoken to BBC World News earlier today about the recent devastating earthquake and the ongoing blockade around Indian borders in Nepal.

Regarding the recent earthquake and the inability of government in distributing the foreign aid, Thapa points out to the reasons including differences in views of political parties and the busy work of the politicians in the promulgation of the new constitution.

Thapa was further asked about the ongoing blockade situation in Nepal. He sums up saying that the blockade cannot be justified as Madheshis are equally represented in the constitution and that the government is ready to deal with this internal issue and demands of Madhesi through negotiation.

He concluded saying that India has fueled the blockade and he has taken steps to meet Indian Foreign Prime Minister twice in past two months and clarified the situation. He remains hopeful that the India will co-operate and let Nepal resolve its internal issue.

Watch the video of Kamal Thapa speaking to the presenter on BBC World news below.

Although he brings nothing new in terms of content, he has done a good job being able to answer the questions live on BBC world service.

I wonder how many Nepali political leaders can present themselves in global platforms like BBC.

At least, we now have a foreign minister who is capable of taking our voice to the world!

If his leadership and the Nepali government can solve problems of Nepal, however, is another significant topic.

What do you say?
