Demi Moore in Nepal with Anuradha Koirala

“I’m not here as a celebrity but just as a human being. I might be American and you might be Nepali but the pain we share is the same. Girl trafficking cannot be stopped by Anuradha’s efforts alone; we need the support of everyone.”

Oh what a line from Demi moore remarks while in visit to Nepal! Oh yes if you still wondering, it’s just because Demi moore didn’t visit Nepal as a celebrity. In her own words she visited Nepal more as a human being and importantly to tackle a global problem of modern day human trafficking and slavery.

Yes, Demi Moore was in Nepal for past few days to film a documentary for the CNN Freedom Project aimed to end modern day slavery. Moore was accompanied by Anuradha Koirala, CNN hero of Nepal in her five day visit. Moore was also spotted with Rajesh Payal Rai in Bhairahawa.

Demi Moore visited some places of Nepal including Bhairahawa and Lumbini. But as her visit was totally of girls trafficking problem orientated, she visited Bhairahawa and Lumbini along with Anuradha Koirala to see her work and get inspired from her.

Moore, 48,  a hugely popular actor in the 1990s is also the founder of DNA (Demi and Ashton) Foundation that aims at eliminating the trading of young children for sex. Moore introduced Anuradha Koirala on stage at the CNN Heroes award ceremony held in New York and here in Nepal Anuradha was introducing Demi Moore in the press conference.

Here are some of the Images seen on Media after Demi Moore’s visit to Nepal.

I knew Demi Moore was in town following some tweets from Kathmandu tweeples but was surprised not to see any of our big papers making it headlines. Our Nepali main stream media really suck when it comes to reporting other than the never ending political saga of the country. However, the Media on Friday is full of Demi Moore and I think the only thing that inspired to cover this story was “Demi Moore’s visit with Mr Jhalanath Khanal “(this too being politically inclined).

And BTW, she didn’t visit Nepal for the Tourism Year 2011. Nevertheless she revealed plans coming back to Nepal along with her husband and explore some beautiful places in Nepal. Moore left Kathmandu by a dragon air flight to Hong Kong yesterday (Thursday).
